Danny Brown just released his third album, Old, last week, and has been hitting the show circuit in support. However, a couple of spot dates with electronic musician Pretty Lights didn’t go well and sparked an ugly Twitter spat between the two artists over the weekend.

The situation got attention after some users in the HipHopHeads Reddit forum highlighted the online beef between Pretty Lights, born Derek Smith, and Brown. From what can be surmised, the Detroit rapper was asked to join Pretty Lights on a few spot dates for his Illumination tour but had some sound-man issues during a stop in St. Louis and allegedly threw his microphone into a crowd.

Brown took to Twitter, calling the show “trash” and saying he was beyond performing at such venues. Pretty Lights caught wind of the tweets and problems with the crowd, calling the situation “weak” which apparently moved Brown to not want to honor his Nashville show obligations.

“Im trying to support good hip-hop shows. I hoped Danny Brown would rock the spot but no dice. Sh-t was weak.my bad for letting it go down,” tweeted Pretty Lights. Danny Brown responded with, “[A]fter homeboys comments .. i fasho wont be playing nashville .. sorry.”

After trading a few barbs online, Pretty Lights tried to be the bigger person and Brown decided to not take the day off and rocked a last-minute set in Nashville.

Needless to say, it doesn’t appear these two will hit the road together again anytime soon.
