Newcomer Isaiah Rashad has a lot to prove, but he’ll be fine if he continues to drop quality tracks. Today, listeners can form an opinion on his new tune “Ronnie Drake,” featuring TDE label mate SZA.

Like “I Shot You Down,” this song can only be described as mellow. But this is very different than his aforementioned TDE introduction. Here, Rashad embraces a more eclectic feel, and while his message is certainly noticeable (and potent), it feels like this listening experience is more about the overall aesthetic.

He and SZA shares vocals on a chorus that chants, “Got love for my n***as, my killers, my dealers, my trickers, my bros/ Got for my sister, my women, my b**ches, my strippers, my hoe.” Sounds very inclusive, doesn’t it? It feels like “Ronnie Drake” is for everyone, rather than a target demographic. The fact that he does this without making the record sound like everything else circulating the radio is all the more impressive.

At the moment, there’s no word on where Isaiah Rashad’s new tracks will live. As we await news on a sure-to-come project, check out “Ronnie Drake” below.
