“Mustard on the beat,” the eponymous producer tag of DJ Mustard, has become a familiar phrase heard on some of Hip-Hop’s biggest hits. But the Los Angeles native has more in store than club records, as he’s signed a deal with Roc Nation.

That may not come as a surprise to some, since the house that Jay Z built has been managing Mustard since earlier this year. The “I’m Different” produced can boast that he’s the first DJ/producer to sign with the label.

Of course, the 23-year-old made the announcement in style. And by that, we mean there’s a lengthy visual that shows him sharing his career goals. “What I wanted to do is just put out an album, and go tour off my own album,” Mustard said likening his potential to what we see French house music producer and DJ, David Guetta, doing.

According to Mustard, his next line of business is to show that his range of production extends past the club-friendly records he’s known for.

As we await more material from the West Coast native, see him speak more in the footage with Life + Times below.
