San Jose State Students Charged With Hate Crimes For Bullying Black Roommate [PHOTOS]

The horror of Higher Learning has come into fruition on the campus of San Jose State University. According to prosecutors, three white students have been arresting in connection for the torment and bullying of their Black roommate. While sharing the dorm, the three students banded together and decorated the room with Confederate flags, Nazi and Adolph Hitler memorabilia to make his life a living hell.

But the most shocking allegation is that they once clamped a bicycle lock around his neck, forcing him to free himself in a scary David Blaine kind of way.

Via CNN:

The three students — Logan Beaschler, 18, of Bakersfield; Joseph Bomgardner, 19, of Clovis; and Colin Warren, 18, of Woodacre — are charged with misdemeanor hate crime and battery, the Santa Clara district attorney’s office said.

The defendants face a maximum sentence of one year in county jail if convicted, prosecutors said.
The 17-year-old roommate who was the alleged victim wasn’t named by prosecutors. He suffered a minor injury when he fought off the bike lock around his neck, prosecutors said.

Outraged students immediately stormed the campus to protest. William Nance, the vice president for student affairs and Peter Decena, the University chief of police, have launched an investigation to hammer out all the facts.

Mercury News (San Jose) obtained a statement from the family of the Black student who allegedly was victimized.

As a family, we are deeply disturbed by the horrific behaviors that have taken place against our son. Our immediate focus is his protection.

We have taken a stand on this matter. Our response prompted the community to be alerted of the appalling conduct of the students involved. We appreciate the outpouring of support from our family, community and the efforts put forth by the Black Student Union of San Jose State University.

We are hopeful the District Attorney’s office will take the necessary measures to ensure justice will prevail for our son.

Due to the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation, we are requesting privacy.

To protect his identity and not complicate the investigation, no further comments will be made at this time.

After this blows over, Kanye West has a bit more explaining to do. The Yeezus MC has been peddling Confederate flag shirts in support his latest tour.
