No man (or woman in this case) is exempt from bouts of stupidity in their youth but sometimes the mistakes can be fatal. A couple of young women from NYC have been given the eternal side-eye from MTA representatives for an incident described by them as “dumb.” While waiting on a delayed D train at Bronx station, Jarisa Fuentes and her friend were bored and decided to get their Miley Cyrus on and twerk on the empty train tracks.

Their foolishness has since amassed nearly 100k views and the ire of the general public.

“U know, yolo,” Jarisa Fuentes, one of the twerkers, wrote in an e-mail to Daily Intelligencer. “I was only having fun.”

“One word, dumb,” said MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz.

Fuentes says the twerkage took place at around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning at a D train station in the Bronx. She and her friends had been waiting for a train for nearly an hour, and started talking about a video they had seen of people jumping across the tracks from one platform to the other. “But because I’m short I knew I wasn’t gonna make it,” Fuentes said.

We asked Fuentes if she had felt any hesitation about, you know, climbing down into the tracks to film a twerking video. “I wasn’t scared,” she says. “I was just cautious.”

Despite the seemingly harmless time the pair was down on the tracks, anything could have transpired to disastrous results. One YouTube user pointed out a harsh reality with a bit of malicious intent stating, “I was just SO hoping the train was early .. and going very fast.”

Screaming YOLO may sound cool but there are a few people permanently sleeping wishing that they could take it back.

Watch the video of Fuentes and her friend below. Was it harmless or completely stupid? Sound off in the comment section as well.
