Back in 2011, Rise of the Planet Apes turned out to be a relatively surprise hit. Next year will bring the sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and if this official trailer is any indication it will be a worth follow-up.
From the clip it’s clear that humans are dwindling, and the apes are not pleased with their former captors. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
The film’s stars include Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman and more. The Matt Reeves-directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is due in theaters July 11, 2014. Watch the first official trailer for the 20th Century Fox film below.
