Speaking of consistency, there are few relatively new MCs who have a track record like Rapsody. See proof in her new track, “Betty Shabazz,” set to appear on Jamla Is The Squad.
Again, she and 9th Wonder connect to create a certified heater. Rapsody, well, raps damn good in the pocket of a fresh, boom-bap beat courtesy of her Jamla co-d. “Bless umi, I shine my light on the world tonight/ I’ve been beasting this evening, I got my tiger stripes/ William at sea, I’m living a tiger’s life,” she rhymes over an ambient vocal sample.
Prior to this, the North Carolina native delivered a proper visual for “Dark Knights,” which appeared on her She Got Game mixtape.
“Betty Shabazz,” or better yet Jamla Is The Squad, a compilation project featuring Jamla’s finest, releases January 28. Until then, stream the cut below.
