Roc Nation and Skullcandy are two relatively small but enormously effective companies so the announcement of them joining forces seems to make as much sense as it could make dollars.

The popular audio brand company announced today, January 6 that Roc Nation co-founder and CEO Jay Brown was appointed to their esteemed board of directors. Skullcandy is sold in over 80 countries across the globe and has managed to thrive in a market where competitors engage in year-round trendy ad campaigns.

On the parallel side of things, Jay Z’s Roc Nation roster isn’t the largest but when you have the biggest rapper in the world at the reins and a strong heir apparent candidate in J. Cole, you can deliver a couple of the best albums of the year with the greatest of ease.

In the official press release, Skullcandy president and CEO Hoby Darling said, “We are very excited to welcome Jay to Skullcandy’s board. He brings to the company valuable perspectives gained from his many years finding and developing world-renowned music talent and growing entrepreneurial businesses. As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roc Nation, Jay will significantly amplify Skullcandy’s presence in music and music lifestyle.”

In other words, don’t be surprised if Jay’s next album comes preset in a pair of illustrious headphones.
