Q-Tip and his buddy Leonardo DiCaprio are working on a television pilot. The latter and his Wolf Of Wall Street co-star Jonah Hill are teaming with the A Tribe Called Quest rapper to develop a drama loosely based on his halcyon days as part of the Native Tongue crew

The Oscar nominees will be developing the scripted series via DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company. Reportedly Hill plans to direct the pilot.

A press release described the show as a “dramatic series will be loosely based on the community and the  collective that was A Tribe Called Quest, whom Q-Tip was a founding member, and their experience and friendship during the Native Tongue era  in the late 80s and early 1990s with other hip-hop artists.”

It continues, “The show will reflect on the stories of how their music played a part in culture then and influenced the music of today.”

The Native Tongue (or Native Tongues) crew consisted of A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, De La Soul and more. Considering how dear Hip-Hop heads hold collective, the Abstract better not mess this up.

Some of Q-Tip’s film credits include Slam and Boyz N Tha Hood.
