Coalition DJs Confirm Death Of Crew Member DJ Nando

Coalition DJs, a popular collective of DJs in the city of Atlanta, issued a statement today that confirmed the death of one of its members, DJ Nando. Nando was killed early Tuesday (January 14) morning in front of his home after suffering a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

DJ Nando, real name William Fernando Barnes, was shot as he was about to enter his Clayton County home according to reports from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Witnesses say they heard a loud bang around 3:30 am this morning, followed by the cries of a woman and a heavy police response.

Coalition DJs leaders Nick Love and Xavier “Big X” Hargrove have released a statement regarding the death of DJ Nando and expressed their sadness.

From Coalition DJs:

Today we’ve  lost not only a great talent and DJ, but our friend and brother.  Nando had a great ear for talent and was highly respected within the DJ community and the music industry at large. DJ Nando played a huge role in the success of Atlanta’s thriving music scene, and was a constant “go to” for labels and artists trying to get their music to the masses.

We’re not engaging in speculation, as we await the final reports from authorities, and ask that you join us in honoring his memory by doing the same. In the coming days we ask for your continued prayers for DJ Nando’s family, friends, his business partner AB and our organization as we work to process this senseless tragedy.

DJ Nando relocated to Atlanta over a decade a ago, joining the Coalition DJs back in 2008. Appearing in videos and holding several residencies at several of Atlanta’s top nightclubs, DJ Nando was beloved as evidenced by tweets from Jeezy, Young Dro, Jermaine Dupri and others.

DJ Nando was 38.
