This real rap — real names and no gimmicks. Talib Kweli, Elzhi, and Phonte collaborated on a track aptly titled “No Competition.”

The trio feel right at home on a melodic beat by underrated producer Khrysis of the Jamla clique. With that, there’s barely a chorus in sight as Kweli, Elzhi, and Phonte trade bars with confidence. The song’s title only applies to those not heard on this tune, because it’s clear that each MC was gunning for best verse honors.

The Brooklyn native kicks things off, making way for the former Slum Village member to do what he does best. Phontigallo anchors the group with closing verse featuring bars like, “We should have did this sh*t a long time ago/ Cause every single line, every rhyme I wrote/ Is nothing but that scheduled to opiates, stimulants; yea n***a, all kinds of dope.”

“No Competition” will appear on Jamla Is the Squad, which is hosted by Statik Selektah and is due to release January 28. Hear the tune below.
