A Florida teen criminal has proven himself too dumb to use a smartphone.

Most likely because it wasn’t his to begin with.

Jess Ewald, 19, turned himself in to Palm Beach police after he took a selfie with himself holding an iPhone he allegedly had stolen in December.

A woman at a local restaurant recognized Ewald from the photo and said he had been present the day her Apple device had went missing.

Via WBPF:

Ewald stole the phone from a woman while she was working at Benny’s On The Beach in Lake Worth last month, but she didn’t notice it was missing until the end of her shift, investigators said.

Six weeks went by and then one day last week, Ewald took a selfie with the iPhone. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office posted the photo on its Facebook page Thursday, and WPBF and other media outlets published it as well.

“(Due) to the overwhelming response to our Facebook & Twitter posting … Jess Ewald turned himself in,” the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday night.

He has now been charged with grand theft. Check the incriminating pictures on the next page.

It’s the Siri struggle.
