James Dewitt “J. Dilla” Yancey made music for any occasion, and fans are blessed with new audible treats in his wake. What’s a better time to debut an unreleased track than what would have been his 40th birthday?

Titled “Yes Yes,” the song comes courtesy of Slum Village –now comprised of Illa J, Young RJ, and T3 — who are currently working on a new album. In commemorating Dilla and “Dilla Day Detroit,” listeners are treated to the smooth sounds of some potent Jay Dee production and a verse to boot. The collective of MCs channel that classic SV feel in respect to their fallen brethren, which adds a great touch.

Slum Village’s forthcoming LP is slated for a spring release, and is said to feature production by J. Dilla, Black Milk, and Young RJ. Rest in power Jay Dee and Baatin.

Tune into “Yes Yes” below.
