The January 3 murder of former G-Unit affiliate Mazaradi Fox has reached a critical turn after the NYPD have arrested Jamal Scott, 35, and charged him with second-degree murder on top of four counts of attempted murder and felony assault.

Naturally, any case involving a murdered rapper has a thicker plot and it turns out that Scott is the older brother of a man police say Mazaradi Fox (real name Jamal Green) shot and killed but was never quite convicted for the crime.

Reports the NY Daily News:

The suspect was retaliating against Fox for a murder Fox allegedly participated in back in 1998, officials said.

The arrested man, Jamal Scott, 35, is the ’98 victim’s older brother, according to police sources.

Scott’s brother Curtis was 21 when he was shot dead by Fox and another man outside Jamaica’s Baisley Park Houses on July 7, 1998.

The gunfire erupted after Fox got into an argument with several men and ordered an associate to open fire, cops said.

Curtis Scott, who was walking down a hill on Foch Blvd. was hit above his left eye. A second man, Jamal Ethridge, 23, was struck in the chest.

Green was never found guilty of the murder and his girlfriend maintains “he was only there and didn’t pull the trigger.” Ironically he died in similar fashion when his Nissan SUV was struck multiple times in January, leaving him dead at the scene.

Scott, who has 10 prior arrests, was arraigned today.
