The NYPD nabbed a pair of teen robbers Wednesday in the Fort Greene Park section of Brooklyn after they used a phone they stole from a man to take a selfie pic. Cops also suspect that the two have been responsible for a series of muggings in the area, and they now face several counts of robbery.

DNAInfo reported on the arrest of 19-year-old Tyquan Solomon and 16-year-old Terrance Sistrunk of the Walt Whitman Houses in Brooklyn. According to the police report, Solomon and Sistrunk encountered a man in the early morning hours of February 2, and brandished a Black BB gun. The teens stole an iPhone and $205 in cash from the 22-year-old victim.

Later that day, the victim used an iPhone cloud-based service and discovered several pictures of the robbers posing in selfie photos and holding a wad of cash. The NYPD were able to use the photos to identify the muggers, and then later arrested and charged them each with five counts of robbery.

Police say that the muggers may be connected to the crimes occurring in the area over the last two months. They are asking the public’s help in tying past crimes to the robbers by calling into the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
