Funk Volume are well on their way to become independent mainstays in the rap game like Strange Music and Top Dawg Entertainment before them.

Their diverse and competent roster boasts the likes of Jarren Benton, Dizzy Wright, SwizZz and of course label co-founder Hopsin. And no label is complete without a secret weapon of in-house production and that’s where Christopher “Kato” Ju carries his weight.

The Atlanta-based, Korean-American producer officially joined the label this past September and he’s already hit the ground running, delivering a new mixtape Kato’s Revenge, that, under any other circumstances aside from building a buzz to gain more notoriety, would be sold on iTunes.

Featuring an eclectic and unpredictable cadre of rhymers in SwizZz, Jarren Benton, K Camp, Forte Bowie, Trouble and more, Kato’s range of soundbeds shoot from magnetizing (the club-ready “Decatur Booty”) to pointing out the bounce with precision (“Let ‘Em Hate”).

Again, the endless hours of mixing, mastering and emceeing on this project should be honored with monetary compensation but Hip-Hop currently has the everlasting gift of being free.

Take advantage and stream and download Kato’s Revenge below.
