Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Marvel Characters Revealed In TV Special [PHOTOS]

Fans of ABC’s hit Marvel series Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have been bummed that show took a week off in favor of a studio-related TV special. However, fans of Marvel got several treats including first peeks at characters that might appear in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron sequel and much more.

The ABC special, Marvel: Assembling A Universe, aired Tuesday night at 8 p.m., serving as both a promotional tool for the Captain America: The Winter Soldier sequel, the aforementioned Avengers vehicle and showing concept art of upcoming characters coming to film such as Scarlet Witch, her twin brother Quicksilver  and Ant Man.

Entertainment Weekly reported on the special and shared photos of the artwork, which also features scenes from the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy film, and a drawing of Hulk and Black Widow watching a building explode.

Entertainment Weekly has more on Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver:

In the Avengers sequel — or perhaps much, much sooner — these two roles will be played by Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House, Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Nowhere Boy). Scarlet Witch is, as her names suggests, able to manipulate energy, and specializes in harnessing magic and chaos to unleash her hexes. Quicksilver, her twin, is able to move at supersonic speeds.

As created by artist Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, the pair were mutants in the Marvel universe — but that term won’t be popping up in the Avengers sequel. The rights to all the comic-book company’s mutants is held by Fox as part of its X-Men license. So we also won’t be hearing about the twins’ father, Magneto, in this iteration.

Other highlights include an art piece of Star Lord and Rocket Raccoon from Guardians Of The Galaxy, and also more on the upcoming Ant Man movie starring Paul Rudd in the main role as Scott Lang.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be released May 1, 2015. Ant Man gets the summer blockbuster treatment with a July 17, 2015 release date. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is slated for April 4 of this year.
