Rick Ross Talks Musical Upbringing, Says He’s Writing A Movie [LISTEN]

BBC 1′s Zane Lowe strategically selects his interview subjects. With a year stretch that includes now infamous discussions with Kanye West, Jay Z, Eminem, Pusha T and more, Rick Ross now joins the fold after scoring another number one album in Mastermind.

Most are acquainted with the Miami rapper’s boss persona, chronic food references and the like, but very seldom do we hear him open up about his passion for music. With Lowe, he spoke on growing up in a house filled with the sounds of artists like Bobby Womack, Elvis Presley, and more. “I just remember whenever we rode from my Miami to my grandparents’ house in the summer — that was a grueling 20 plus hours with my mom and dad. The music they played, they made me understand it,” Ross recalled while attributing moments like that to his career choice.

But these days, he’s entering new terrains. With no shame for shameless plugs, he’s already given Wingstop a name in the Hip-Hop community. Now he’s on to Hollywood. “We’re writing our own film right now, and I feel this film could possibly generate hundreds of millions of dollars,” Ross revealed, though he refused to divulge any major details.

Stay tuned for more information on the film, but hear Rick Ross speak more in the interview with Zane Lowe below.
