The idea Wu-Tang Clan releasing a new album without any issues was great at first, but then reality kicked in. But it looks like things behind the scenes are (hopefully) being resolved, because the collective offered up their new track, “Keep Watch.”

With assistance from a crooner named Nathaniel on the chorus, The Wu throw darts on the first official single from the LP. Method Man leads the charge with a potent verse that name drops the late Notorious B.I.G. and mentions his role as “Cheese” on HBO’s The Wire. Next comes Inspectah Deck, Cappadonna, and GZA, who all use their dynamic rhyme styles to enhance the record.

It’s worth noting that The Genius kicked bars with enough science references to teach another high school class.

Noticeably absent was Raekwon, who’s yet to record a verse on Wu-Tang’s new album. During a recent discussion with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, the legend said he’d never disrespect the family, but “it’s 20 years later B, and business gotta be done correctly,” without divulging major details.

Here’s to hoping that The Chef works things out with RZA before A Better Tomorrow releases. Stream the DJ Mathematics-produced “Keep Watch” below. It’s available for purchase here.
