There has to be a different level of pressure when your boss is at Lil Wayne’s status. During a recent interview with MTV, the YMCMB leader discussed his artist Nicki Minaj’s Rise of an Empire single, “Lookin A** N***a.”
Though Wayne said, “Nicki never fails to amaze with anything she do,” he was also very critical of the popular track. “Honestly, I’m a tough judge, and I’m the boss. So I kinda be like, ‘Yeah, that’s nice, but you can do better.’ But that’s what I tell myself everyday,” Weezy explained to MTV.
It’s no wonder that Cash Money is so successful if tough opinions like this are commonplace at a label known to churn out hits on both a Billboard and street level on a regular basis. Hear Lil Wayne speak below.
