Bill O’Reilly has been known to utter foolish and controversial statements during his tenure at Fox News. After former GOP VP candidate Paul Ryan came under fire for remarks about men living in the inner city, O’Reilly came to his defense and called Rep. Barbara Lee a “race hustler.”

Earlier in the month, Ryan was a guest on Bill Bennett’s Morning In America radio program where he was critical of men living in inner cities and their refusal to take up gainful employment. Saying that these men didn’t know the “culture of work,” Ryan caught the attention of Rep. Lee who called it a slight racial critique for which the congressman has since apologized.

O’Reilly, not satisfied with burying the issue with Ryan, had the congressman as a guest on his The O’Reilly Factor program last night blasted Rep. Lee and other members of Congress by alleging they’re using race to shut down Rep. Ryan’s point, whatever that was.

From The Grio:

“These race hustlers make a big living and they get voted into office by portraying their constituents as victims,” he said. “And it’s all your fault, and it’s my fault, it’s the rich people’s fault, it’s the Republicans’ fault. It’s everybody’s fault except what’s going on.”

“What’s going on, as you know, is a dissolution of the family and you don’t have proper supervision of children,” he added. “And they grow up with no skills and they can’t read and speak … and that’s what’s going on. But if you say that, you’re a racist. So no matter what you say, Congressman, you’re going to be branded because the race hustlers don’t want to solve the problem.”

O’Reilly isn’t offering much in the way of solution either naturally, so continues the long dance of bombast and securing TV ratings for Fox News.
