Philly’s own Asaad has an admitted chip on his shoulder, but rather than let those feelings fester, he vents on his new mixtape, Flowers II. As a result, fans receive a true life update on the rapper’s hiatus that makes for a solid listening experience.

Clocking in at 13-tracks, the project blends an array of influences ranging the gloomy trap sonics on “Block Boy 2.0,” featuring King L, to the syrupy soul sample on the “Good Can Be Better (Interlude).” The project doesn’t go without some disses to rappers you’ve definitely heard of. But we’ll let your ears do the work in that department.

Ab-Soul is the only other featured MC. Together, he and Asaad trade verses on “Alejandro Jodorowsky Flow.”

Peel the layers back in Asaad’s rhymes on Flowers II below. Give us your thoughts in the commentws
