Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth’s “They Reminisce Over You” gets recreated with Rich Kidd and Raz Fresco as part of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Rock The Mic series.

The wicked remix features Hip-Hop’s Soul Brother #1, who waxes poetic alongside Canada’s own Rich Kidd and Raz Fresco. Roc The Mic, which revisits Hip-Hop classics, kicks off the series today with a new visual for “T.R.O.Y.,” which finds the trio mixing and mastering at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York City.

The Rock The Mic tribute to “T.R.O.Y.” is in conjunction with the classic’s 22nd anniversary (April 2, 1992). Pete Rock rededicates the record to fallen friend “Trouble” T-Roy and his cousin, Hip-Hop pioneer Heavy D.

“Every time I hear the song it brings up memories… The music itself puts you in a trance to where you just remember what that song really is,” says Pete to CBC while sitting in the Electric Lady studios.

Raz Fresco and Rich Kidd, both of whom delivered CL verses, know how invaluable their old school meets new school encounter has been with Pete Rock. “You have to know that song when it comes on,” says Rich Kidd. “For me to learn these words … makes me a better MC. We care about this craft, we care about the art, and we’re blessed to be working with legends. We appreciate it.”
