Mistah Fab Changes Name, Releases New Track “O.J.” [LISTEN]

It’s out with the old, in with the new for veteran Bay Area rapper Mistah Fab. After etching his name in stone on the Left Coast for his unbelievable freestyling ability, he’s changing his name to re-route his legacy to a higher plateau.

Fab will now be known as Fabby Davis Jr. when asked about the reasoning for such an abrupt move, he tells Hip-Hop Wired it’s not really that big of a deal.

“I just felt like it was time for a new ‘Mistah Fab’ and that comes with ‘lots and lots’ of new freshness,” the Oakland rapper tells Hip-Hop Wired in an exclusive statement. “Plus, all the homies call me that anyway.”

Artists changing their names is definitely something Hip-Hop culture has grown accustomed to over the years. But what is new about Fabby’s situation is the murderous flow he’s unleashed on his first track under his new moniker, “O.J.”

A double-timed delivery and lyrics like “I’ma kill and get away n***a/O.J.” easily reveal that Fabby isn’t referring to breakfast’s most popular drink. The disgraced ex-NFL star who many believe killed his wife despite being acquitted of murder charges during the 90’s most high-profile trial, is the underlying metaphor here.

Not to discredit his past accomplishments, Fabby is optimistic his name change is the right move saying, “If anything, it will give a new discovery of me for people to see that I’m doing new sh*t.”

That new sh*t is available below for streaming via WeTheWest.
