A Black man in Louisiana is speaking out after he claims a White Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office police officer allegedly entered a friend’s home unlawfully and arrested him. As the friend videotaped the whole incident, the man repeatedly said on film that he was afraid. The clip has since gone viral.

Donrell Breaux, 26, was in a River Ridge home when a confrontation with a neighbor got testy this past Sunday (March 30). Talking with friend Eric Banegas on the porch of Banegas’ home, the shouting match with the neighbor began and ended with threats of police being called on the pair. Minutes later, cops arrived at Banegas’ home with an unnamed deputy entering allegedly without announcement of warrant.

Banegas videotaped the whole affair as Breaux repeatedly cries out that the deputy is scaring him and pleads by asking why the officer is roughing him up. Further, the cop saw the videotaping happening and orders Banegas out of his own home. Banegas posted the video to Facebook on April 1, and it has been shared thousands of times so far. Breaux spoke with NOLA.com to share more details.

“I knew he (the deputy) was a personal friend (of the neighbor),” Breaux said, “and I thought it was an unlawful arrest. I don’t have to submit to an unlawful arrest.”

“I’m pretty pissed about the situation,” he added. “I feel this is wrong because they do this all the time and nobody ever has it on video. I feel it’s a problem with the police and people not knowing their rights.”

As of now, the JPSO office has yet to comment on the incident and Breaux says he plans to hire an attorney to bring about a larger case. Coincidentally, the New Orleans police force this week said it will now require officers to wear cameras to record their time on the job in order to avoid occurrences such as what happened with Breaux.
