Student Who Stabbed 21 Students At Pennsylvania High School Identified

The student who went on a stabbing spree at a suburban Pittsburgh high school has now been identified. Alex Hribal was taken into custody on Wednesday after the shocking incident, and has been slapped with several attempted homicide and assault charges.

Hribal, 16, unleashed his slashing rampage yesterday morning wielding two knives according to the accounts of those on the ground at Franklin Regional High School in the town Murrysville. Several reports have been unveiled regarding the incident, and what is known is that Hribal stabbed 21 students and a security guard before an assistant principal tackled him.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has more:

Just after dawn, police said, sophomore Alex Hribal went on a rampage through a wing of the Murrysville school in a scene straight from a horror movie, slashing and stabbing 21 students and a security guard with two 8-inch knives. The swift and apparently random attack ended only when an administrator tackled the boy. Within five minutes, a high school hallway was transformed into a bloody crime scene; sleepy students waiting for first period suddenly became victims of violence; and a slender, dark-haired 16-year-old from Murrysville described as quiet and studious, and looking younger than his years, emerged as the latest face of the national epidemic of school violence.

Hribal was charged with four counts of attempted homicide, 21 counts of aggravated assault, and one count of possessing a weapon on school property. Hribal was treated for minor injuries at the scene of the crime, whisked away by police in a hospital gown.

According to a CNN report, Hribal was a quiet kid but well-liked by all the students. In fact, it appeared Hribal had a normal home life and there wasn’t any evidence of bullying or anything of the sort.
