Dr. Dre’s infinitely delayed album Detox has long went the route where unicorns and fairies convene to play poker, yet artists still insist that its release date is around the corner.

The latest rapper to toy with fans emotions is the legendary Q-Tip who, just a few hours ago today (April 17) posted a picture of him and Dr. Dre in the studio promoting the mythical album’s creation. Q-Tip himself has been diligently working on his new album The Last Zulu for six years since his previous release so he’s no stranger to foot shuffling in the studio either.

In a hashtag laden statement, Q-Tip posted “#detox #lastzulu #hideyodrummachines #beatsnrhymes,” as he and The Good Doctor stood in front of engineering equipment in an undisclosed studio location.

In December of last year, Q-Tip said he was on board as a producer alongside Rick Rubin for Kanye West’s upcoming album. Dr. Dre on the other hand hasn’t been one for making music since he and Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine turned their Beats By Dre operation into an undeniably money-making machine.

There have been bouts where Dre would claim to be inspired (like 2012’s Grammy-nominated good kid, m.A.A.d. city) but he would eventually abandon the project once again.

Hit the flip for the pic of Q-Tip and the Diggy Diggy Doc together. Think we’ll actually see Detox in 2014 or nah?
