Raekwon Says He’s On Strike From Wu-Tang Clan

In a perfect world, Wu-Tang Clan would hit the studio to make a new album in peace and harmony. But rogue member Raekwon candidly spoke with Rolling Stone about why his underlying issues with RZA and management are the reason he’s yet to lay a single verse down on the group’s upcoming A Better Tomorrow LP.

The Chef didn’t detract from the Wu-Tang name nor RZA once, but instead was extremely critical of how things are being handled. “The bottom line: I’m not happy with that. I’m not happy with the direction of the music and I’m not happy with how dudes is treating dudes’ business,” said the Staten Island rapper.

Raekwon sang an entirely different tune than RZA, who claimed that he didn’t know why his partner in rhyme disassociated himself from the LP. “I don’t know why he said he didn’t speak to me, because he did speak to me. We spoke about two weeks ago,” the legendary MC explained. He says that the Wu-Tang producer knows exactly why he isn’t involved.

“I am on strike,” said Rae in context of being asked if that’s the case. Yes, we know that’s a crushing blow to longtime Wu-Tang Clan fans. The rapper insists that he won’t spit a single verse until his contract is right and RZA is willing on compromising on the creative side.

“I love my fans. I would never give them something that I feel is not a hit or a win,” Raekwon said. Read the full story via Rolling Stone.
