Hip-Hop’s influence runs deep and Bunji prides himself with being down with the cause when it was just “rap” being the predominate title for the sounds of beats and rhymes. Speaking on the cultural impact Hip-Hop had on his beginnings as artist, he remembers, “With all the different influences coming in heavy, it fell into the influence brought by calypso–which was one of the world’s first music genres in regards to music so I tried to hold on to lyrical substance the best I could.”

In the overall view of things, the jubilant rhythms of a Soca show during an outdoor summer event feels like a genius idea and Bunji feels exactly the same way. “They way we perform is unlike any other artist from any genre. Our music is basically structured for live audiences,” he exclaimed. We’re very interactive and the larger audience, the better for me. We’re known for handling audiences around 50,000 people and moving them from one side of the venue to the another, all in the name of music. We’re going to have a lot of fun on June 1.”

The stage has been set and now it’s up to you in the Tri-State area to catch the show for yourself. Prep yourself by grabbing the Carnival Tabaca EP on iTunes and follow Bunji on Twitter @BunjiGarlin. Tickets for Summer Jam 2014 can also be purchased here.
