5 Illinois Cops Caught Lying In Court [VIDEO]

The troubles that plague the Chicago law enforcement sector are seemingly a statewide issue as five suburban Illinois cops were caught lying on a man they pulled over with a pound of weed.

Police say they pulled over 23-year-old Joseph Sperling of Glenview, Il after he failed to signal a turn in his vehicle in June 2013. What they didn’t say is that Sperling was under surveillance by the narcotics division and they obtained marijuana from his backpack in an illegal search.

Actually, they didn’t have to say it. The dashboard camera caught them red-handed in the act.

Reports The Daily Caller:

Cook County Circuit Judge Catherine Haberkorn tossed out the obviously false testimony, and furious state officials are considering criminal charges against the officers who lied under oath, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Two of the cops are with the Glenview Police Department, while the other three are assigned to the narcotics division of the Chicago Police Department.

The officers testified that they pulled Sperling over for failing to signal a turn. Sperling admitted to carrying marijuana, and a backpack filled with the illegal substance was sitting open in the backseat, according to the officers.

But Sperling’s lawyer obtained footage from the police dashboard camera, which showed that police arrested Sperling immediately, and then searched his car, finding the marijuana in a backpack under his seat.

Now the officers have all been reassigned of a street patrol and could face additional perjury charges for their falsified accounts.

Im shocked! Perjury is to harsh a word, let’s just say they fibbed. A paid suspension will teach them a valuable lesson.
