Perri “Pebbles” Reid Suing Viacom $40M Over TLC Movie

Perri “Pebbles” Reid saw her name repeatedly dragged through the pig trough after VH1’s CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story depicted her as a dishonest, money-grubbing manager.

Like any public figure whose likeness wasn’t portrayed in alignment with one’s opinion of their ownself, such embarrassment has forced her to sue, and she’s coming at Viacom for a big payday.

Reports Page Six:

Perri “Pebbles” Reid — former manager of the girl group TLC — is suing Viacom for $40 million over the movie “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.”

Reid claims in Atlanta federal court that the 2013 VH1 movie portrays her “as a conniving and dishonest business woman who hoodwinked three innocent girls and exploited their talent for her own personal gain.”

Reid says in the suit that Viacom “ignored fundamental canons of journalistic and literary conduct by publishing false and defamatory accusations with actual malice.”

The suit filed late Friday states that, contrary to what VH1 viewers saw, Reid never controlled TLC’s lawyers or accountants, never withheld contract terms from TLC and always paid the group what they were owed.

A spokesperson for Viacom said, “It’s our policy not to comment on matters in litigation.”

The storied R&B’s group’s surviving members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas have constantly stated they were pleased with the film’s outcome while Reid has vowed to tell her side of the story.

It looks like it will be told in court now.
