To say that we’re excited to hear what The Roots cooked up on their upcoming …and then you shoot your cousin album would be an understatement. Our anticipation was heightened by a new track titled “Tomorrow.”

First, understand that there’s no rapping on the entire record. Instead, Washington D.C. crooner Raheem DeVaughn gives listeners some game about this thing called life. “I said it’s free to be yourself/We all fall short sometimes,” he sings over stripped down piano instrumentation and stuttering percussion.

Prior to “Tomorrow,” the veteran group debuted another piece of the puzzle in “When The People Cheer.” Next came …and then you shoot your cousin‘s official tracklist, which fans can check out here.

Stream The Roots’ latest release below. Listeners, take the thoughtful track for what it is at the moment, because it’s proper context won’t be fully realized until the legendary Roots crew deliver their concept LP on May 20.
