Ending months of speculation, Warner Bros. Studios has confirmed that a Justice League movie directed by Zack Snyder will follow the Man Of Steel sequel.

The DC Comics universe hasn’t enjoyed the same level of success on the big screen as its rival Marvel Comics, but there seems to be a leveling of the playing field developing.

With Henry Cavill returning to his role as Superman, Ben Affleck will play Batman and Gal Gadot will star as Wonder Woman. Just last week, Ray Wright was cast as Cyborg, adding on to what should be the future Justice League line up.

It appears Snyder has been given the reigns to expand the DC Comics according to statements from Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Production, Greg Silverman.

“It will be a further expansion of this universe,” said Mr. Silverman on Sunday. “’Superman vs Batman’ will lead into ‘Justice League.’”

DC Comics is enjoying success on the small screen with the CW hit show Arrow, but the 2011 Green Lantern film was largely a bust. No word of other superheroes, such as Aquaman or the Flash, will join the Justice League film cast. Snyder has a bit of time to flesh out the roster, as the tentatively titled  Superman vs. Batman film is slated for a 2016 release with the Justice League vehicle arriving some time in 2018.
