Jaz-O doesn’t have any problem embracing his age, and sharing his wisdom. Hip-Hop Wired linked up with the Brooklyn native and there was no question the man born Jonathan Burks shied away from answering.

“What they offered me was a $150,000 budget. I was like, ‘Okay, cool. Who controls the budget?’,” recalls Jaz-O about passing on recording contract from Roc-a-fella Records. “That was the issue. Who’s controlling the budget? Who’s paying for the studio, where am I working at and you didn’t mention anything about an advance in my pocket so how am I supposed to support myself? Damon [Dash] didn’t have write answers, but he made me the scapegoat for both of them.”

Lost in the dialogue whenever his contentious relationship with Jay Z gets dissected in the media, or a barbershop, is that the Originator helped put Hov in the game, period. [See: Moguldom Studios’ A Genius Leaves the Hood: The Unauthorized Story of Jay Z, a doc that most were afraid to make right here.]  So we got intel on how at one point he was going to sign as an  R&B singer, when the last time he spoke to Jigga and even got him to comment on that infamous photo of him riding the train in NYC.

Where has Jaz-O been? Find out right here.
