Daytona Signs To Harry Fraud’s SRFSCHL Record Label

Go ahead and add Daytona (formally known as The Kid Daytona) to the growing list of rappers who signed record deals without being XXL Freshmen.

The Bronx lyricist just inked a deal with producer Harry Fraud and his Surf School Recordings (SRFSCHL). The pair have already exhibited impressive chemistry together with a number of songs, namely 2012’s “Low” with Jadakiss.

Fraud tells Billboard that the move came naturally, seeing that they were always in close proximity of one another.

“Daytona and I were always part of the same circle of peers and I’ve worked with him in the past,” the Brooklyn producer stated. “I’ve always appreciated him as an artist and respected him as a person When Surf School became a reality he was one of the first artists I immediately reached out to. Daytona is a no brainer for me. He’s potential as an artist is limitless and our sounds compliment each other.”

Fraud–known best for his record’s signature catchphrase “La musica de Harry Fraud”–has done full length albums for the likes of Curren$y and Smoke DZA and he plans to do the same for Daytona this summer. Their first official SRFSCHL project will drop in a few months, with “Type Ish” being the first single. The breezy, upbeat track finds the newly singed MC delivering his trademark cleverness (“For the scandal/Handle like Shabazz Napier/No biggie son/I bet they have faith in ya”) and giving the warmer season a new soundtrack staple.
