The Roots – …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin Album Stream [LISTEN]

Oh how we’ve been awaiting this moment. The Roots are delivering their …and then you shoot your cousin album to the world on May 19, but before then, fans can stream the full body of work guilt-free.

Again, the Philadelphia Hip-Hop band show that’s they’re aging like a fine wine, as they deliver another concept album. But this time around, the collective hopes to built on the shortcomings of 2011′s undun.

“It’s conceptual; it’s another concept album in the spirit of undun, but it’s not just about just one kind of character, we create quite a few different characters in this record,” Black Thought said during an interview with  XXL. “It’s satire, but in that satire it’s an analysis of some of the stereotypes perpetuated in not only the Hip-Hop community, but in the community. I don’t know if that makes any sense.”

Clocking in at 12 songs, The Roots previewed a piece of the tale with “When The People Cheer” and a Raheem DeVaughn-assisted cut called “Tomorrow.”

“Hopefully you’ll get something new from it every time you listen to it, you’ll hone in on something different,” Thought said during the same discussion. “It’s short enough to do that, to take in, to digest in one sitting, so to speak. There’s very many layers to this record, but it doesn’t take place over very much time.”

Pitchfork has the full-length version of …and then you shoot your cousin up and ready to go. Stream it here.
