Cancer, or the Big C as some call it, has effected all of us to some degree. Whether you contracted the disease or know someone who has, that’s a devastation that can hardly be put into words, though Lupe Fiasco does so on “Mission.”

This thoughtful track, the lead single from Fiasco’s long awaited Tetsuo & Youth album, opens with heartfelt words from cancer survivors, including singer Charlie Wilson, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008. That ushers in triumphant sonic bedding and some uplifting verses from the Chicago rapper.

“‘Mission’ is a track to empower those facing cancer, revere cancer survivors and remember those who have passed to due to cancer related illnesses,” Fiasco explained.

Fiasco partnered with Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), an organization that funds cancer research, as a celebrity ambassador. The two will use “Mission” in future collaborations that will roll out this year. Download the cut and find more info via weareonamission.org.
