ScHoolboy Q – “Hoover Street” [VIDEO]

ScHoolboy Q is TDE’s most comedic presence, but he’s also from a very real place. Oxymoron fan-favorite, “Hoover Street,” detailed just one of many more stories the Figueroa St. rep will deliver, but before we hear those tales, he antes up a proper visual for the track.

Quincy’s lyrical recollection of living with his dope fiend uncle and how he became a Crip is conveyed on-screen during two parts of his life — childhood and his teenage years. Each of the important characters are in place, but none are more important that the rapper’s grandmother’s pistol, the catalyst to much of the trouble he found himself in.

Yellow Nguyen and Moosa (perhaps ScHoolboy’s tour manager) co-directed the treatment.

The Los Angeles native recently discussed the pressures and paranoia his fame has placed on his gang affiliation. ScHoolboy’s warranted fear of unintentionally revealing his homies from the set to enemy gangs is why he’s against shooting visuals in his neighborhood for the most part.
