What better place for The Roots to promote their …and then you shoot your cousin LP than their nightly platform, The Tonight Show? Last night (May 20), Hip-Hop’s favorite band performed track two, “Never,” for the live studio audience.

Host Jimmy Fallon introduced the house band. Black Thought then captivated onlookers with nuanced rhymes that detail a man who’s drowning in doubt and depression. The Roots, who manned their normal positions, were backed by Fool’s Gold founder DJ A-Trak on the ones and twos, a small orchestra, and back-up singers.

Honestly, “Never” was an interesting choice given its slow tempo, but it worked in the end. Find the song …and then you shoot your cousin, which is currently available for purchase on iTunes. Peep the footage of The Roots’ performance below.
