450-Pound Florida Man Arrested Hiding Drugs In His Belly Fat
Being resourceful landed a 450-pound Florida man in jail for drug charges last Friday (June 13). Christopher Mitchell, 42, and his friend Kethian Roberts were initially pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, but they started acting all “nervous” and fidgety, so cops suspected something was up. They were right, Mitchell had marijuana hidden between the folds of his belly fat.
According to deputies Mitchell — who goes by the nicknames “Biggie” or “Fat Boy” — explained that he was too big to wear his seatbelt. Authorities decided to search the vehicle’s trunk and one pretty obvious tipoff was staring them right in the face. Carpet freshener was sprinkled in the trunk, which is typically done to hide the smell of pungent drugs, like marijuana.
A K-9 eventually sniffed out the drugs, at which point one of the deputies found 23 grams of weed underneath Mitchell’s stomach rolls. They also found cocaine, a gun and $7,000 in cash in a tube sock.
Mitchell has a prior conviction for cocaine trafficking and served three years in prison back in 2004. This time around, he was charged with marijuana possession and cited for not wearing his seatbelt. Roberts got slapped with cocaine possession.
Police say the bust was part of a bigger drug trafficking ring that trickled over into the arrests of more than two dozen people.
