Must be these 90’s kids. I don’t remember most of that stuff. How ’bout yeen from Atlanta if you don’t know why Club 21 is called Club 21, never cruised on Peachtree, don’t know what the SWATS is, don’t know which radio station is the BIG Station (or the People’s Station), don’t know where Mr. V’s Figure 8 was, don’t know what they sold on Stewart Avenue (and why they changed the name) etc….
When I was 6 or 7 I remember asking my mom why those “women” were wearing bathing suits and standing out on the streets (a lot of times they weren’t women either). Remember The Alamo? Lol.
Lawd, I remember the Alamo too well. I remember this one time we … uh, never mind. No comment. lol
Lol!! Now now, sir! Hmmm…the Alamo…AND the fact that it was on Stewart errr, I mean Metropolitan. Lol..
They should have just called it the Allaho Court. I can’t believe they let them run a “snap house” out that place for so long. The police had to be in on it.
You know they were! Then they had the nerve to paint the darn place bright PINK at one time!
I have to remember to say “Metropolitan Pkwy”…most of the time I still call it Stewart like everybody still does.
Heh, did they really think it would stop cause they changed the name??? lol
Well I must say it took some years but I don’t really see many of those lady-hybrids anymore on that street. Maybe they come out at night only now. Lol.
Ok do you know the house where that psychic reader/advisor lady lives? It’s on Cleveland Ave. Off Stewart. She’s been there like 40 years. Lol. I get so curious and want to see what she’s about but it scares me.
I sure do. It’s kinda creepy..loo
Kinda like that dentist office
Lol!! Or that Christian bookstore. It was supposed to be a holy place but it looked so evil. Don’t wash your car at that car wash next door either unless you want to get robbed! No liquor down the way unless you want to get shot. Smh! R.O.C…
I know and the church across the street looks weird and out of place. Berean (not sure of the spelling) bookstore does look creepy. Lol
You spelled it correctly, Berean…and oh yeah!!! Almost forgot about that church. It’s nice looking but in a weird way. It’s literally dead smack in the middle of the hood in all these funky, gawdy colors and it has a huge crown thing on top of it. Lol. Ahhh, thank ya’ll for the convo and memories. 🙂
well according to this i’m not from Atlanta
Or you’re older than 20….
I’m from Texas but I must wanna be from the A because I swear on everything I love I know about 98% of all of this
I remember Screaming Wheels, McCrory’s, Chocolate City, Mcfrugals and a host of other businesses on that Cleveland Avenue and Stewart Avenue stretch.
No, it’s Metropolitan Pkwy! lmao!
McFrugal’s!!! You know they tore down that Mrs. Winners and put up a Family Dollar there now. My elementary school is the one directly across from Kroger Citi Center.
Hutchison Elementary. . I think. I love Mrs. Winners. God I miss them. Well I went to Humphries Elementary School.
Yeah I know but it will always be Stewart to me
Yeen from Atlanta if u don’t remember Zayres, Thriftown, and Lionel Playhouse on Jonesboro Road.
The Kangaroo! I thought it was Lionel Playworld though. Playhouse? Lol… I went to that swapmeet they had out there near Jonesboro North/South. No more turning frowns upside down.
Did anyone even mention Pastor Troy? ||
Guess I’m not from atlanta …
