There’s A Saved By The Bell Movie Coming To Lifetime [Video]

If you came up in the ’80s and ’90s,  and liked R&B, Saturday morning sitcoms, or both, Lifetime wants every last drop of your childhood memories at this point.

This week we learned that an Aaliyah biopic is in the works (although it’s already running into trouble), and now there’s a Saved by the Bell movie on deck.

It’s safe to say the Bayside High’s made-for-TV-movie won’t be about what you remember from the show. The film is titled, The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, so you know that means trouble.

From Variety:

The TV movie promises to go behind the scenes of the popular Saturday morning teen soap that made household names out of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley and others.

Fittingly, original series casting director Robin Lippin was tapped to find modern-day equivalents in Dylan Everett (who will play Gosselaar and his on-screen persona, Zack Morris), Sam Kindseth (Dustin Diamond/Screech), Julian Works (Lopez/A.C. Slater), Alyssa Lynch (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen/Kelly Kapowski), Tiera Skovbye (Berkley/Jessie Sapano) and Taylor Russell McKenzie (Lark Voorhies/Lisa Turtle).

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story is produced by Front Street Pictures and Ringaling Productions Ltd. for broadcast on Lifetime. Exec producers are Harvey Kahn (“Flowers in the Attic”) and Stephen Bulka (“Dear Mom, Love Cher”). The film is directed by Jason Lepeyre (“Restless Virgins”) and the teleplay is written by Ron McGee (“The Nine Lives of Chole King”).

Saved by the Bell ran on NBC from August of 1989 to May 1993.

Most of the cast made continues to get steady work and made it through the wind tunnel of instant stardom, without too many bruises. Except Dustin Diamond and Lark Vorhies. “Lisa Turtle”  has  changed a lot in recent years, and  Diamond allegedly refused to reunite with the crew for a People magazine story. He also did porn, and battled his weight issues on Celebrity Fitclub.

The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story premieres Sept. 1 at 9 p.m.
