She isn’t from here anyway. She can cheer for whom she wants

    • smittyt

EXACTLTY,everybody don’t live to kiss America’s @ss.I know they brainwash us from the first grade that we have to be patriotic to America but that’s just pure white tr@sh brainwashing bull s**t.

      • Misss

To an extent. When I see how women are treated horribly a lot of places in the world I’m thankful for my freedoms in America that my great ancestors fought for us to have. Their fights are NOT in vain. It’s not perfect but we are progressed and reaping the benefits our great ancestors fought for in this place.

      • Look At Me!!! ☺

Nah.white people ain’t do much but steal kill and destroy

      • Misss

Lol well I can’t argue you there !

      • Accrington_Stanley

Your comment is possibly the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

      • DK

Where are your great ancestors from?

      • ?????

You know the good thing about the USA is that if you don’t like it you can PACK YOUR SH** and LEAVE!!!!

    • Misss

She’s not from Germany either. It’s just in bad taste and I like Rihanna.

      • Look At Me!!! ☺

I’m not from Miami but I cheer for the heat is that bad taste too you cracker?

      • Misss

I’m blck no need to get hostile! Yes cheering for the heat is obviously in bad taste!

      • Ayisha

Your comment makes absolutely nonsense! we all know where she is from…Half of you people don’t even know anything about the sport! or the players. I am form Trinidad and my favorite team is Brazil…I am not rooting for America because I am not a fan of the players. Period

      • Misss

You are not profiting millions either it’s bigger than just being a fan for her and if you READ it appears that not like you she has one favorite team and cheers them on but she is cheering on everybody that plays against the US that’s why it’s in bad taste. Happy 4th of July

      • Greg

She makes money from the whole world, not just the USA. Last time I looked the USA is not the world. She sells albums worldwide, makes royalties worldwide and tours worldwide. Maybe attitudes like yours misss is why she cheers against you.

    • Tony Williams ModelInc

But she lives here and makes her money here. if she hates usa so much then leave. Am Black and i love USA

  • NeikiC

Half of these people commenting don’t give a damn about soccer anyway. She can cheer for whichever team she wishes. For the record, she does not make most of her money in America! Fallacy.

    • smittyt

      TRUE!!!

  • NativeKing

F her and her country…We’d blow that joint to pieces in seconds, who cares lol

    • smittyt

      F America!

  • mar

She does get most of her D from the US. Chris Brown, Meek Millz, the NBA, J Cole, Jay Z… Cash that check in USD rude gyal

    • Morgan

      Trueeeeee LMFAO.

  • kb

She can root for who she wants, and she isn’t American, but she tends to not have favorite but instead go for every team against the USA. So yeah , people might take it personally.

    • smittyt

      Well they’ll get over it.

      • you know whyt people

They will get over it by not supporting…everybody in america has their “team”….even when she goes to bball games she just looks confused…and bullshxts around….she is not fro,.here and she acts like it too…

  • MrsMommy

Slavery is over. She can cheer for whomever she wants.

    • Morgan

This is such a stupid comment. Slavery has nothing to do with this.

      • smittyt

Yes it does,it has everything to do with it.

      • KZet

No, actually, slavery has absolutely nothing to do with this. People are upset because the US is the country where she was able to find so much success in her career and make millions of dollars yet she seems to support every other country besides the US. So some feel that is in bad taste. Whether this is in bad taste or not is up for debate. Perhaps you think slavery has something to do with this because when you look at Rihanna all you are able to see is the color of her skin.

      • how we watch

When I watch soccer I have the same behaviour as Rihanna. I like what I like. It’s not a team. It’s not a country. It’s not my home country. I just like good games, good moments and good players. It’s just in my nature. Not a decision.

      • how we watch

        Checkt this:
twitter::Rihanna::26 June 2014::New photo of Tim Howard::He’s disrespectfully good!!!

    • smittyt

      RIGHT ON she can!

  • sux2bb

sigh. this is an issue? really? really now? sighhhhhhh

  • Honeybee

Everybody wants to be “american” but nobody wants to be “american”. These foreigners talk so much crap but then come over get rich and live better than people born here. Take yo self home then.

    • Natasha3

I’m assuming that you’re INDIAN than!!!!!! Alot of foreigners work just as hard and sometimes way harder than actual born citizen in this country!! Who are you to tell them to go back home, unless this world is yours and you created it with the palms of your own bare hands!

    • smittyt

Don’t blame them for that ,blame these white folks here for giving them everything making it so that they can live better than the people here.

      • ?????

Well you can say something smart, can’t you. Only it’s not just white people doing it.

  • who cares?

    is it really that deep?

    • smittyt

NO only to those patriotic white folks.

      • ?????

So are you trying to say that only white people have the strength of conviction?

    • kb

It is, and anyone who follows soccer know that it’s like religion to people.

  • Panty Raid

But do people feel the same way when someone from Dallas roots for the Saints? Where did all the soccer fans come from?

    • Morgan

The World Cup brings out the excitement.

  • rtyujih .

As a African-American, i tend to cheer for ALL African teams…regardless who they play. i love U.S. but the motherland, always want to see them excel =)
Hell, ANY all black team…so hard to root against them, you know?

    • kb

US Team has 8 black play tho….

      • MoniqueM

Those African teams aren’t even rooting for themselves. Its all about the money. No pride in their country.

      • smittyt

America is the greediest country in the world and you talking about it being just about the money.

      • MoniqueM

I’m talking about players here and their personal pride. The African players aren’t playing for country they’re playing for money.

    • Morgan

Keep in mind that many of these Africans refer to black Americans as “akata” which means wild animal/stray. It’s very degrading and insulting.

      • http://starswired.com/ Anonymous

        Akata means foreigner you fool.

    • smittyt

I like everything you said except that I love America part.

  • Mia C

If she was living in the UK, on the cover of all UK magazines, made tons of dough in the UK market and then rooted for every single team that came against them in a world event letting everyone know about it she’d be blasted endlessly in their press and hounded everywhere she went. And her sales would drop to nothing and that would be the end.

Same thing with any other country. Try do this to the Spanish, Italians, anybody. Your career would be over.

It’s disrespectful and low class. I’m tired of her. She’s a horrible role model. Drugs, selling S & M to little girls and now this. She can’t even sing and every college has better looking chicks with more talent everywhere you look.

I do wish the US market would reject her right back.

    • PICA$$O BAE YEEZY

Realness…look at what they re promoting…right now, a song from an album that dropped almost two years ago. .she dosnt even have any new music out

    • http://starswired.com/ Anonymous

You want her to support that sh*t team you call England. Her sells wouldn’t drop because her fan base ARE NOT FOOTBALL FANS so you failed with that bullsh*t theory.

      • Redmally

It wouldn’t matter whether her fan base were football fans or not if she tweeted against England she would get grief. Our tabloid press would make sure of that they’re very creative with their headlines And yes we know we’re sh*t but its good form not to mention it old bean.

    • jkjkj

Rihina can b a bit crass, yeah…but you . you got issues

    • jkjkj

@mia c youre prob right though

  • PICA$$O BAE YEEZY

    Rihthota at it again

  • shan

Why the eff do people care? I’m American and surely I’m not rooting for the USA. I can root for whomever I want….that’s my freedom, my right. Why is this even a damn article????

  • Morgan

I’m an American who actually understands soccer and doesn’t find it boring, so I’m of course rooting for my country …. and also for Brazil, as I’ll be going there in 2 months time. But …. take a look at Ronaldo’s son. We all know he did more than just take a pic with Rih, not that it was a challenge lol. #OpenLikeSuicideDoors

    • kb

yeah, I know soccer and of course I’m for the USA even tho, I don’t think we would make it past the quarters. For the final I actually think Dutch and Brasil, and I’m torn between the two. I don’t get why anyone born in the USA would root against them, is like rooting against your mom in race bc she is too slow. Rih isn’t born in the US, this more for other commenters. and FYI the USA team has a lot of black players like 8 out of 23. Rih tbh seems spiteful , bc it’s like every team that plays the US she roots against, which is her right but of course she would get blowback

  • http://starswired.com/ Anonymous

Can’t wait for the USA to lose, I’m going to troll heavily.

  • Brooklyn Gordon

News Flash Rihanna is not American #Boom. Anyone familiar with Caribbean culture knows soccer is major and no one cheers for American soccer sorry usa

  • nick

damn these over sensitive and ignorant ppl !. firstly, all the teams she mention is in the same zone as the US so obviously she is keen on the US zone and their opponents, they are seven other zones and each consist of four teams. ironically its because of a Portugal win over Ghana why US progress to the next round,so obviously Rihanna understands the game and the competition more than most of “the haters.” instead of casting stones (negative comments) try and understand what this is all about (the world cup).i agree that the United States is a great country if not the best, but u can learn to respect, love and appreciate other people county, culture, music, sports etc. and this is what the young lady is doing appreciating this world and global event. stop this stupidity that she makes her money in the US, she is a global star and that’s what these star do have and make fans all over the world.

    • irrelevantrhianna

Nick you made some ok statements but let’s be realistic. If she is keen on the US zone then why cheer for every single team they are playing against AND do it on a public forum (US based companies like twitter and instagram). She is doing it to get a reaction out of people. Just like she has the right to cheer for whomever because “she wasn’t born in the USA” Americans have the right to slay her for her comments. People are quick to say crap about my country but yet they fighting each other to get here! I’ve come across alot of foreigners (some still friends) who came to the states for college and had alot to say about my country. I kindly told them there are universities back home in your country so go back there. It’s very disrespectful and when I’m a tourist in another country I respect their people, culture and their laws. She is wanting to get a rise out of people PERIOD! Looking forward to her tweets for the Olympics. hmmm For all those people saying she don’t make the USD, shes a global artist well darling she’s signed to a US record label not one from Barbados. She had airplay on the US radio when her career launched, bought houses and cars here. Invest in charities, clubs, stores, fashion all kinds of crap US based. But it’s ok she doesn’t have to cheer for us but don’t wait for a Global event to begin and start bashing our team. Who she route for 4 years ago though? hmmmm

      • nick

ok i understand your point of view and feeling of betrayal on patriotic level however the very thing the United States stands for “democracy,” “brave and free” it would be hypocritical to be angry and bitter with the young lady for expressing her freedom of choice and cheer for whom ever she wants. US is relatively new to this sport at international level,US have their own sports :football, baseball, basketball etc. hence creating stars, idols, that people adore eg.Lebron, koby,Bret, Tiger. outside of the US, most of the other countries soccer(football) is their number one sports hence having their own stars and idols also eg. Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar even the Ghanaian guy Rihanna admired Boateng is a star in soccer world. say all that to show its out of ignorance why people be angry with Rih for cheering other teams and players not only US. i’m sure she loves the US, doubt she’d trade other places to call home…but right now she is enjoying the event and understanding the sport more than the average who just heard about it(word cup) or see a glimpse on the news.

  • PolkaDots

hahahaha – No. 6 is funny as heck.

  • jjjj

it’s ronaldo not reynaldo . Idiots

  • It’s Mee

Most Americans know nothing of football (futbol) anyway, they are simply being patriotic by supporting their national team, which is fine; however, being upset because someone who happens to live and work in America but doesn’t appear to support the national team is, for lack of a better word, stupid. It’s not all about the good ole U S of A…football fans are not necessarily patriotic. I support Spain; although I’m not from there, have for many years, and will continue to do so, regardless of what country I live in (yes, I’m fully aware they played like complete rookies this World Cup, but four years from now, they’ll be back, strong).

Drawing on a similar sports analogy below, just because one doesn’t live in Miami, for example, doesn’t mean that they can’t be a Heat fan…to say that one has to support a team in the City or Country they reside in is limiting and true sports fans will never limit their choice of team based on location.

  • http://www.tomkitta.com/ Tom

In free country pp are free to cheer from whomever they want.

  • mmaohio33

It’s not even about her rooting against America it’s the fact she’s celebrating it and making sure everyone know she doesn’t like america….Have some class which she really didn’t have much to begin with

  • Freedom of choice

I cheer any nation against the USA

  • Tony Williams ModelInc

Fuk rihanna she has more stds than hookers. to hell with her, USA USA USA USA .

No thanks
