The Oakland Police Department have taken to the Internet to combat the oldest profession in the book.

A new sector on the oaklandnet.com website has been created to profile sex offenders, pimps and prostitutes.

Via KRON4:

In its effort to combat sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in Oakland, the department is using its website to post the arrestee’s name, date of birth, city of residence and date of arrest along with their booking photo.

The photos and information will be updated twice a month, the department said.

“We are dedicated to identifying and rescuing victims of trafficking and locating and arresting perpetrators of this crime.”

The information and photos are intended to keep the community informed about the people who have been arrested and charged for prostitution related offenses.

“The United States is one of the top destinations for trafficking in persons, and California is a top destination state,” according to the police officials.

“The community plays an important role in combating trafficking. An informed community is an empowered and safer community.”

To report suspected prostitution and sex trafficking, please call the department’s anonymous tip line at 510-238-2373

If everything goes according to plan, the website will be updated twice a month.

Visit the website here to see if you spot anyone you know if you happen to live in the Oakland area.
