Hindsight vision is always 20/20 but maybe Robin Thicke releasing an album under his estranged wife, Paula Patton’s name wasn’t such a good idea.

The R&B crooner isn’t exactly Mr. Popular at the moment and if his botched Twitter Q&A wasn’t indicative enough, his first week sales of Paula all but tell the tale of his struggle.

Nobody bought it. Especially in Australia.

Via MSN Music:

Robin Thicke is facing embarrassment Down Under after his new album sold fewer than 54 copies in Australia in its first week of release.

The singer’s new record, titled “Paula,” failed to break into the country’s ARIA Top 500 chart after it hit shelves last week.

Limited sales data is recorded for albums which fail to make the chart, but the figures show Paula shifted only a handful of copies.

The news comes after the record flopped in the U.K., reportedly selling just 530 units to scrape into the charts at number 200, and in Canada, where Paula was bought by just 550 fans.

The album has fared slightly better in the U.S. where it sold around 25,000 copies to reach number nine on the Billboard 200 chart this week.

The numbers are a stark contrast to Thicke’s hugely successful 2013 album “Blurred Lines,” which debuted at number one in the U.S. and Britain, and won a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Pop Vocal Album category.

If this personal failure is enough to win back his wife, it will be a win in the end but he actually could have benefitted own dignity from putting a hit on the album. That usually helps, too.
