Walter R. Tucker III At the age of 33, Compton native Walter R. Tucker III won a special election after his father Mayor Walter R. Tucker Sr. passed away, and became the youngest mayor in the city’s history. The younger Tucker moved on to the House of Representative in 1992, only to resign three years later in wake of allegations that he accepted bribes as mayor of Compton. He was sentenced to 27 months in prison for extortion and tax evasion in 1996. Today, Tucker devotes his time to ministry.
