Buddy Cianci  Vincent “Buddy” Cianci holds the record for one of the longest mayoral terms in U.S. history, spanning more than two decades. Cianci held office as mayor of Providence from 1975-1984, then from 1991- 2002. His first run ended over an assault conviction, and one back in office Cianci was forced out yet again, this time for racketeering. A law in the state’s constitution   allows Cianci to run for mayor once more.

Birmingham, AL mayor Larry Langford needs to be added to this list. He is in prison now for accepting money in exchange for city contracts.
