Troy Ave Says He’s In Label Deal Talks With T.I. and Rick Ross

Brooklyn’s Troy Ave has a major decision to make. The “Your Style” rapper already dropped an independent debut, New York City: The Album, and landed a spot on XXL‘s Freshman issue, but now he has his sights on a joint venture with a major label that may include either T.I. or Rick Ross.

While Tip and Rozay hope to bring Troy into the Grand Hustle or Maybach Music Group fold, respectively, he still has some business to handle first.

“I’m still in the mix doing this new sh*t,” Troy told Hip-Hop Wired shortly before performing at halftime of an Entertainer’s Basketball League game for BACARDI Flavor at the Rucker at Rucker Park. “I want to drop, I want to sign, I want to get my joint venture from a major label. And then I want to drop my debut album on a major. I’ma drop BSB Vol. 5, and then I got Young Lito’s project coming out. He the new star. He the new young boy of Brooklyn doing his f*cking thing. So BSB 5, then Lito’s project, then they going to get my album.”

But the question is what label will that new album, titled Major Without a Deal, be on? T.I. told MTV News in June, “I can say that it is a possibility,” when asking about inking Troy to a deal.

“Me and T.I. we in talks right now trying to figure it out,” Troy told HHW. “I was kicking it with him for like an hour the other day. We just trying to figure out the best situation. I’ma get a non-traditonal type of deal. He’s supporting me either way, whatever I want to do. We totally independent right now.”

Troy is keeping his options open because Rozay is still in the running for his services, too. “Ross is still in the race. I’m actually going to jump on a phone call with Ross tonight.”

However, Troy is adamant that he isn’t trying to sit back and go through the motions wherever and whenever he eventually chooses to sign.

“I’m hustling. God is great. I’m trying to get to the promised land. Regardless of who trying to holla at me, I still gotta get there on my own. That’s my mentality. That way I won’t never fail waiting on another ni**a who got millions, anything can happen. They might decide they want to kick back and not do music no more. I an’t riding a coat tail. Self made, self paid.”
