Wale powered through label mate Meek Mill’s accusations that he was a “hater” and wasn’t a true member of Maybach Music Group by delivering new music. Today, he follows up with a lyrical homage to his clique called “MMG Under God.”

Folarin is more times than not spot-on with his wordplay and delivery. This time, he waxes poetics over a soulful instrumental that’s laden with lush instrumentation. His bars are on point, but the song’s most intriguing moment considerably comes after his closing verse.

“One day they gon’ understand this worn out heart of mine/ And subscribe to this genuine article of mine/ But never mind, a brother you argue with is a brother you love enough to correct/ So passion over perfection as I religiously rep that double M sh*t,”  said Wale, while playing the role of a bard. At the end, he sends a message to all of his incarcerated brethren, including Meek. Clearly, there’s no bad blood on his end.
