Last week, Meek Mill shockingly revealed his feelings towards MMG label mate Wale during a Twitter rant that described him as a “hater.” Wale responded quickly and with precision on the day of, but in the end, it was up to head honcho Rick Ross to clear the air.
Bullett sat the Bawse down for an interview, during which he discussed the public tiff between his artists.
“It’s a misunderstanding,” Ross said. “As soon as the tweets went out, I spoke to both of them on the phone. Those two guys, they’re brothers. At the end of the day, they’re brothers and it’s time to turn up right now. It’s time for all of us to turn up and stay turned up, you know what I mean? But it’s all love between those two and everybody knows that.”
Historically speaking, Ross has a way with words during moments of controversy. But the Miami rapper reiterated that it was all a misunderstanding throughout the conversation.
“That’s why you seen whatever was said, the little brotherly jabs and then that was it,” Ross continued. “That’s all you’re going to see. They’re two real dudes, two successful dudes, and we all came from the same place.”
Again, that’s Ross resolve, but his proteges expressed different feelings. For example, Wale’s response depicts him as the crew’s outlier — though he’s very comfortable in that role.
When referencing the idea of beef, in or outside of the MMG clique, Ross quickly replied, “we’re not here for that.” But the veteran wordsmith understands Hip-Hop and what comes with it.
“You know certain things will occur; that’s just the nature of the game. There’s going to be dust kicked up at every arena, and you should all expect that. But at the same time, we’re focused on what we came for,” he revealed.
The MMG collective’s problems now span past petty disputes. Meek, whose Dreams Worth More Than Money album is slated to release September 9, has been incarcerated for a parole violation and could be in jail for three to six months.
